Ingredients
- 2 pounds round steak cut very thin
- bacon
- onion
- carrot or dill pickle
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
- 1 bay leaf

Step 1
Buy round steak (about 2 lbs.) and have it cut very thin. Then cut in pieces about 2 in. by 4 inches. Salt and pepper each slightly. In each piece of meat place first a piece of bacon (about 1 inch), then a piece of onion (about 1/4 or 1/8), then a carrot or a piece of dill pickle. Roll up and fasten with a toothpick then brown in hot fat and add a little water and a bag of spices. Simmer slowly until tender.
