Ingredients
- 4 cups flour 1 stick butter
- 1 cup sugar 1 ½ cups dark raisins
- 1 tsp. salt 1 ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking powder 3 eggs, unbeaten
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375. Grease and flour a 9 inch cake pan. In a large bowl, mix sifted flour, sugar, and dry ingredients. With a pastry cutter, cut in the butter until it reaches a cornmeal consistency. Stir in the raisins. In a separate bowl, combine buttermilk and eggs. Mix with dry ingredients until together. Put in the pan. Bake for an hour and 5 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Baking time varies, so keep an eye on it!
