Sweet and Sour Pork

By

My sister, Lori, gave this recipe to me years ago. This was a family favorite. Very quick and easy. Great served over rice.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 2 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1 lb Boneless Pork Chops, cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 13-1/4oz can Pineapple Chunks in Juice, drain, reserve juice
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1-1/2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/3 cup Sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix 2 tablespoons of the flour with the ginger. Coat pork with the flour mixture. Heat the oil in 10" skillet. Fry pork until brown, remove from skillet.

Add enough water to reserve pineapple juice to measure 1 cup. Shake remaining flour and juice/water mixture in tightly covered container until well mixed. Stir flour/juice mixture, vinegar, soy sauce and worcestershire sauce into the fat in the skillet. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute.

Reduce heat and stir in sugar, a little salt and pepper, and the pork. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally until pork is tender, about 30 to 40 minutes. Add pineapple, cook uncovered 10 more minutes. Stir.

Serve over hot cooked rice.
