Ingredients
- 1 cup dried lentils
- 6 cups water
- 2 slices bacon, diced
- 1 large carrot, finely chopped
- 1 celery stalk, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 4 hotdogs, thickly sliced
- 1 tbsp catsup
- salt and pepper to taste

Preparation
Step 1
Wash lentils. Bring water to a boil and add lentils, bacon, onions (only a little - save the rest), carrot and celery. Simmer 30 - 40 minutes. In frying pan, saute onion in the oil until soft. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir until flour is lightly browned. Take 1/2 cup of the lentils and water and put in frying pan and beat with wisk until blended. Add vinegar and put it all into the lentil pot and simmer 30 minutes or until lentils are soft. Add hot dogs and catsup. Heat through.
