- 1 (3 ounce) package cherry flavored gelatin
- 1 cup hot applesauce
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Sugar for coating

Step 1
Heat applesauce. Add gelatin and stir until dissolved. Add the sugar and salt and mix over low heat until dissolved. Remove from heat and add the nuts. Pour into a buttered 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Refrigerate until firm and cut into squares. Roll in sugar. Let stand 24 hours and roll in sugar again. Makes 3 dozen small pieces.
