RANCH COOKIES

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups chopped nuts
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (12 ounces) chocolate chips
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Cream first five ingredients. Sift flour, soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt; add to creamed mixture. Add remaining ingredients; drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375deg for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: 100 cookies.
