Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 48 chocolate kisses

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening and peanut butter; gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and brown sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; beat well.

Combine flour, soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls, and then roll in 1/4 cup sugar; place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375deg for 8 minutes. Remove from oven; press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie. Return to oven for an additional 2 minutes or until lightly browned. Yield: 4 dozen.
