Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup soft shortening
  • 1 1/3 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups oats, uncooked
  • 1/2 cup raisins, chopped
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Preparation

Step 1

Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg into bowl. Add shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla; beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Stir in oats, raisins and nuts. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated oven 350deg F for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies.
