Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups sifted flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 (6 ounce) package chocolate chips
  • 1 cup nutmeats

Step 1

Mix sifted flour, baking powder and salt. Melt shortening in saucepan and add brown sugar; stir until well mixed. Cool slightly, add eggs, one at a time. Beat after each addition. Add dry ingredients, nutmeats and chocolate chips. Use greased pan 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 3/4-inch. Bake at 350deg for 25 to 30 minutes. When warm cut in squares. If margarine or part butter is used for shortening, there will be a glaze on cookies.
