Preparation

Step 1

Melt 1 (14 ounce) bag of caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Set aside.

Mix together:
1 (2 layer) German Chocolate cake mix with pudding
Rest of a 5 1/3 ounce can of evaporated milk
1/2 cup melted margarine

This will make a stiff mixture. Press 1/2 of mixture in a greased 9 x 13-inch cake pan.

Bake 6 minutes at 350deg. Remove from oven. Sprinkle over top:
1 cup nuts, chopped
6 ounces chocolate chips
Caramel mixture

Dot with remaining cake mix mixture by teaspoonfuls. Sprinkle chopped nuts over top - lightly press into cake mixture. Bake at 350deg for 20 minutes. Cool, but cut and remove from pan before caramel completely hardens.
