Ingredients

  • 1 cup syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 (9 inch) pastry shell, partially baked
  • Cool Whip topping, thawed (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Combine corn syrup and next 4 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well using a wire whisk. Stir in butter, vanilla and salt.

Sprinkle pecans evenly in pastry shell; pour filling over pecans. Bake at 350deg for 50 to 60 minutes or until filling is set. Cover edge of pie crust with strips of foil after 15 to 20 minutes of baking to prevent excessive browning.

Serve with whipped topping, if desired.
