Garlic-Rubbed Fried Bread

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic (4 smashed, 2 cut in half lengthwise)
  • 12 baguette slices, 1 1/2 inches thick

Preparation

Step 1

Heat 1/4 cup oil with two cloves smashed garlic in 12 inch nonstick skillet over medium high. Fry 6 slices of bread in garlic oil in same skillet until golden on each side, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer bread to paper towel lined plate. While still warm, rub each side of fried bread with halved garlic clove. Repeat heating, frying, and rubbing with remaining oil, garlic, and bread. Makes 12 servings.
