Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup chopped sweet onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 32-oz. bottle of ketchup
  • 1 Cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 Cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 Cup Apple juice
  • 1/2 Cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon, dried crushed red pepper

Step 1

In a large saucepan, sauté onion, minced garlic, and jalapeño pepper in 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat 4 to 5 minutes or until done. Stir in bottle of ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, apple juice, honey, and Worcestershire. Add all spices. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally. Use immediately, or refrigerate in airtight container up to 1 month. Makes 5 cups.
