Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 can (2 lb. 3 oz) Italian tomatoes
  • 2 small cans tomato paste
  • 2 Tblsp sugar
  • 1 Tblsp salt
  • 2 Tblsp parsley (dried)
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1 package lasagne noodles
  • 1 lb. shredded mozerella
  • 1 lb. cottage cheese
  • 8 oz. grated parmesan cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Heat heavy stock pot over medium high and and meat. Stir occasionally halfway cooked and add onion and garlic; saute until meat is fully cooked. Add tomatoes, paste, sugar, parsley, oregano, and basil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 3 hours (cover it loosely or it will splatter everything).
Cook noodles according to directions (adding 1/4 cup oil helps them not stick together). Mix cheeses together.
Layer in either large casserole or 3 8x8 square pans (I make one and freeze two): sauce, noodles, cheese, noodles, cheese, noodles, sauce.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
