  • Filling:
  • 1/2 Cup Butter, soft
  • 1/2 Cup Brown sugar, Packed
  • 1 Egg Yolk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Flour all purpose
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 Cup (6 ounces) Semi sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Tbsp Shortening
  • 1 Cup Finely Chopped Walnuts or Pecans
  • 1/3 Cup sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg yolk and vanilla.
Combine the flour, salt and baking powder, gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.

2. Roll out the dough into a 12" x 10" rectangle between two sheets of waxed paper, transfer to a baking sheet. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

3. In a small bowl, melt chocolate chips and shortening in the microwave.
Stir in nuts, milk and vanilla.

Remove waxed paper from dough, spread with filling, tightly roll up jelly roll style.
Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.

4. Unwrap and cut into 1/4" slices. Place 2" apart on baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
