MANDEL BREAD

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 capful almond extract
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • cocoa
  • cinnamon- sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix sugar and butter. Add eggs, beating thoroughly. Add flour, baking powder, vanilla and almond extracts.
Remove 1/3 of dough. Mix with cocoa until chocolatey.

Add almonds to white mixture. Spoon white mixture into three strips on a prepared cookie sheet. Put chocolate mixture on top of each strip and marbleize with a knife. Sprinkle tops with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Slice and toast for 5 minutes if desired.
