Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, shaved or finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Marshmallows or whipped cream for serving

Preparation

Step 1

In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the cream, milk, sugar and salt and heat until mixture is at desired serving temp. Meanwhile, fill the hot chocolate pot with very hot water and let stand for a few minutes.

Pour out the water from the pot and pour in the hot cream mixture. Add the chocolate and vanilla. Place the lid and the frother on top of the pot. Froth the mixture until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth, about 1 minute.
