- 1 cup low-fat milk
- 1 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup reduced sodium chicken broth
- 1/4 cup light cream cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup parmsan cheese, grated

Preparation
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, whisk the milk and cornstarch until smooth. Whisk in the broth and place over low heat. Add the cream cheese, garlic powder and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 4 minutes. Whisk in the parmesan cheese and cook 1 to 2 minutes more.
This makes enough for 6 servings of pasta, chicken and broccoli.
I add a pinch of nutmeg to it; just adds a little something to a white sauce.
