Sugar Cookies

This is the recipe Mom always used for sugar cookies – a family favorite.

Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond flavoring
- 2-1/2 cups Gold Medal Flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda

Step 1
Cream sugar and butter. Mix in egg and flavorings. Measure flour by sifting. Blend dry ingredients; gradually add flour mixture; mix well. Refrigerate at least 2 to 3 hours.
Heat oven to 375.
Divide dough in thirds and roll out one part on lightly floured pastry cloth or surface to 3/16” thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
If not icing, sprinkle with sugar before placing on cookie sheet.
Place cookies on cookie sheet.
Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until delicately golden.
