Buttermilk Chess Pie

A traditional buttermilk chess pie flavored with vanilla and nutmeg. This rich dessert is an American classic, simple and delicious, only 6 ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • Pie shell

Preparation

Step 1

Mix cream, sugar and butter. Add eggs, beaten to a lemon color.

Mix the flour in a little of the buttermilk and add buttermilk a little at at time until flour and buttermilk are thoroughly mixed. Then add to sugar-egg mixture. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix by hand.

Bake in a 9-inch unbaked shell at 350°F for 40 to 45 minutes.
