Homemade Belgian Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Lukewarm Water
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp Yeast
  • 2 Cups Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Canola Oil (or similar)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda

Preparation

Step 1

Combine water, sugar and yeast and let stand for 10 minutes. Mix flour, milk, oil and salt in with the yeast and blend well until smooth. Let stand at least 8 hours (or overnight) on the counter top. Do not refrigerate.

TIP: Make sure to use a BIG bowl, as the yeast mixture will percolate overnight and it can rise a fair bit.

In the morning, stir in eggs, vanilla and baking soda. Cook per your waffle maker instructions.
