Ingredients

  • 2 (4 oz.) pkg. Baker's German sweet chocolate
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. unsifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Melt chocolate and butter in top of double boiler over hot water, stirring occasionally, remove from heat.
Meanwhile, beat eggs until foamy, adding sugar, 2 tablespoonfuls at a time and beat constantly until mixture is very thick. (This takes 5 minutes at high speed of electric mixer and longer by hand.)

Mixture must be well beaten because the eggs, not flour, thickens this mixture. Blend in chocolate mixture. Add flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt; then stir in pecans and vanilla.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until top is "set." Cool on wire rack. Yield: 3 dozen.
