Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix water and yeast and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Add honey and salt. Mix. Add flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough is no longer sticky. Gently knead dough in the bowl until it is smooth. If you need to add a bit more flour while lightly kneading, that’s no problem!
Divide dough into balls, roll into breadstick shapes and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. {I usually pat out the dough and use a plastic knife to cut equal pieces before shaping into breadsticks.} Let rise for 20 minutes. While breadsticks rise, make garlic butter topping.
Topping
■1 stick butter
■1 tsp. garlic powder
■1 tsp. parsley
Melt ingredients together in a small saucepan. Simmer for two minutes.
Brush topping over breadsticks immediately before baking. Brush again when you remove them from the oven.
Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Enjoy with delicious soup, salad or as a side for dinner. YUM!
