HUSH PUPPIES

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups self-rising corn meal
  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 medium onion (about 6 tablespoons)
  • 7/8 cup milk
  • 1 well-beaten egg

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all ingredients. Let mixture stand about 3 minutes, then take up a tablespoon at a time and press into spoon with fingers to form little cakes. Slide mixture off spoon on to brown paper bags. Fry a few at a time in deep hot oil. May adjust the amount of onion to taste.
