- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk

Step 1
Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg and milk all at once. Mix until dough forms a ball. Turn out on a lightly floured surface and knead 10 to 12 times. Roll to 3/4" thickness. Cut with
2 1/2" cutter. Place on ungreased sheet and freeze. Store in freezer in plastic bag. To bake frozen biscuits, place on lightly greased sheet. Bake at 475deg for 12 to 15 minutes or until brown. Makes 1 dozen.
