Ingredients

  • 1 TB room temp butter
  • 1 1/3 c half and half
  • 1 tsp salt
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1-2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 1/2 lbs gold potatoes (about 6 medium)
  • 1 1/2 c grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 c diced ham
  • 3 TB grated parmesean

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease dish with butter.
2. In a sauce pan over low heat, combine half-and-half, salt, pepper, and garlic. Cook until bubbles just begin to form around edges of the pan. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Peel and slice potatoes thinly and pat try. Layer 1/3 of slices in baking pan. Pour 1/2 c cream mixture, 1/2 c shredded cheese, 1/2 c diced ham, and 1 tablespoon Parmesan. Repeat two more times.
4. Bake, uncovered, 1 hour or until potatoes are tender. If surface is browned but potatoes are not tender after an hour you may cover with foil and continue baking. Rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
