Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees

Dissolve yeast in water and let sit while you warm the milk and butter. Add to yeast mixture. Add remaining ingredients. Place dough in large greased bowl and cover with a clean towel. Let rise in a warm space for 1 hour. Divide into quarters and smooth out into rope shapes. Braid two into loaf shapes. Let rise additional hour. Brush the tops with beaten eggs (room temp) and bake on greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes (till bread sounds hollow when tapped.)

For grandma's oil bread sllice a loaf of hot breat (right out of the oven) horizontally and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper. Put halves back together and cover with clean towel. Serve warm.

For rolls let dough rise for 2 hours. Shape into balls and place three in greased muffin cup. Cover with clean towel and let rise for an additional hour. Brush with egg and bake for about 15-20 minutes.
