Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup dark cocoa powder
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 oz semisweet or milk chocolate

Step 1

Set the oven at 350 degrees. Butter a 9 X 13 baking pan and dust it with flour. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the melted butter and both sugars at medium speed for 1 minute until well blended. Add the eggs a little at a time to the mixture and beat for 1 minute, scraping down the bowl during beating. Beat in the vanilla. With the mixer set at the lowest speed, beat in the flour mixture. In the removed bowl, stir in the pieces of chocolate with a spatula. Put in pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the edges are set and the middle is just firm when pressed with a fingertip.
