GF Breadsticks
By merehodge
The wonder of these bread sticks is not even how “normal” they taste when they come
out of the oven, but how great they still taste the next day! Play with this recipe by
shaping and topping the sticks with different seasoned salts, cheese, chopped nuts,
seeds or other variations to accompany your meals.

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350° F.
In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, except yeast. Cut the shortening into
small pieces and cut into the dry ingredients with a dough paddle attachment on an electric
mixer or a pastry cutter by hand.
In a smaller bowl, stir together the liquid ingredients until combined. Slowly add liquid
mixture to the dry ingredient bowl, mix with the paddle attachment and pour in the yeast,
stirring until the lumps are removed from the dough. Beat an additional minute thereafter.
Dust a clean counter or pastry mat and your hands with Jules Gluten Free™ All Purpose
Flour. Grab small fist-fulls of the wet dough, rolling it in Jules Gluten Free™ All Purpose
Flour and your toppings into the shape you desire. Lay the sticks, pretzels or other shaped
dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Sprinkle with remaining toppings and bake for 10-12 minutes until the tops are lightly
browned and the dough has risen. Turn off the oven and open the oven door, leaving the
tray of breadsticks in the cooling oven to let them cool slowly.
