Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon, halved or 12 oz hot smoked sausage
- 1 med onion, sm dice
- 1/2 med green pepper, sm dice
- 3 lg 28 oz cans pork n beans (can use instead 1 each Busch's black beans, original baked beans, sweet mesquite grilling beans & smokehouse traditional grilling beans)
- 3/4 c BBQ sauce
- 1/2 c brown sugar
- 1/4 c distiller vinegar
- 2 t dry mustard or 2 T Dijon
- Southwest seasoning blend

Step 1
Adjust oven rack to lower middle position& heat to 325. Fry bacon or sausage in lg deep pan/ skillet until bacon has partially cooked & released 1/4 c drippings. Remove from pan & drain on paper towels. Add onions & peppers to drippings in pan & sauté until tender, 5 min. Add beans & rest of ingredients, bring to simmer. Pour flavored beans into greased 9x13 oven proof pan. Top with bacon & cook until beans are bubbly &'sauce is consistency of pancake syrup, 2 hrs. Let stand to,thicken slightly & serve.
