  • c c all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 c butter
  • 3/4 c buttermilk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Placee large iron skillet in oven.
In a large bowl, stir together the firts 4 ingredients. Cut 1/4 cup butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender until crumbly. Add buttermilk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or role to a 1/2-inch thickness, cut with a 2 1/2-inch round cutter.
Remove skillet from oven and put 2 tbsp butter in it allowing the butter to melt and completely coat the bottom of the skillet.
Add biscuits to the skillet.
Baked at 350 degrees F. for 20 minutes or until golden.
Bruch biscuits evenly with 2 tbsp melted butter.
