Ingredients

  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 cup low or nonfat milk
  • 1 large lightly beaten egg
  • 2 Tbsp canola oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp orange juice
  • 4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup raisins (optional)

Step 1

FILLING
Lightly oil and 8 x 11" baking dish scattered nuts and a 1/4 cup of the brown sugar in the dish Set aside, in a small bowl combine the rest of the brown sugar, orange juice and the cinnamon, stir until smooth.

DOUGH
1.In a small bowl stir honey into 1/4 cup warm water sprinkle yeast over the water and set aside.

2. In a small saucepan heat milk over low heat until very warm an instant read thermometer should register between 105-115°;Pour into a mixing bowl add egg oil salt sugar the reserve yeast mixture and 1 cup of the flour stir with wooden spoon until well blended stir in remaining flour half cup at a time until the dough becomes difficult to stir.

3. Turn dough out onto lightly floured work service and knead gradually incorporating more flower as necessary to prevent sticking till the dough is smooth and elastic about 10 minutes be careful not to add too much flour.

4. Roll the dough out into a 12 x 18" rectangle spread the brown sugar cinnamon mixture over the Dough leaving a 3/4 inch border around the edges, sprinkle with raisins if using starting at the long end roll up the Dough jellyroll fashion pinch the edges together along the length of the role with a sharp knife slice the role and 12 pieces.

5. Place the rolls cut site up slightly apart in a prepared dish cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled this should take about 45 minutes.

6. Preheat oven to 400° bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown, remove from the oven and immediately invert the pan on to a platter and serve warm
