BROWNIES FROM A CAKE MIX

  • Cake:
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Frosting:
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Brownies:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix cake mix, melted butter, and one egg. Press into greased 9 x 13" baking pan. With mixer, beat powdered sugar, 1 egg, cream cheese, and vanilla until smooth. Spread on top of cake mixture. Bake for 25 minutes or until set. Cool.

Frosting:
Bring butter, corn syrup, milk, and cocoa to a boil. Remove from heat. Beat in powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread on cooled brownies.

Note: If frosting is too thin, add more powdered sugar. If too thick, add more milk.
