Gingerbread Cake

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 (16 oz.) package dark brown sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup molasses

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a 13x9 inch baking pan; set aside.
Combine butter, sugar, flour and salt in a large bowl, stirring by hand until well blended. Measure 3/4 cup and set aside.
Combine eggs, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, baking soda, buttermilk and molasses; stir into remaining sugar mixture, beating until well blended. Pour batter into prepared pan and sprinkle with reserved sugar mixture.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack.
