Ingredients

  • 1 TB butter
  • 2/3 c onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 6 oz chili sauce
  • 1 c ketchup
  • 1 1/2 TB Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 c dark brown sugar
  • 2 TBs cider vinegar
  • 2 TBs chili powder
  • 1 1/2 TB cumin
  • 1 1/2 TB prepared spicy brown mustard
  • 1/2 TB salt
  • hot dogs
  • additional raw onions, chopped
  • additional spicy brown mustard

Preparation

Step 1

Onion Sauce:
Saute onion and garlic in butter until soft and translucent. Add the rest of the ingredients and cook over medium heat for 15-20 minutes until mixture begins to boil; stirring frequently (do not bring to full boil).
Reduce heat and continue to stir often.
Hot Dogs:
Pan fry hot dogs in peanut oil. Place dogs in buns and apply a stripe of spicy brown mustard. Sprinkle on some chopped onions and then sauce.
