Preparation

Step 1

In small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
In large bowl, with mixer on low speed, beat EAGLE BRAND®, butter, eggs and vanilla until combined. Beat at medium speed for 1 minute, until smooth. Add flour mixture and beat on low speed until combined. (If using hand-held mixer, use wooden spoon to stir in last portion of flour mixture).
Divide dough into thirds. Wrap and chill dough about 2 hours or until easy to handle.
Preheat oven to 350ºF. On lightly floured surface, roll out one portion of dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with floured cookie cutters. Reroll as necessary to use all dough. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugar (optional).
Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until very lightly browned around the edges (do not overbake). Cool. Glaze and decorate (optional). Store leftovers loosely covered at room temperature.

Notes: Confectioners’ Sugar Glaze: Combine 2 cups confectioners’ sugar and ½ teaspoon vanilla, almond or lemon extract. Stir in enough milk (about 2 tablespoons) to make glaze consistency. Add food coloring (optional) to tint glaze.
