Ingredients
- Crust:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 tbsp. water
- Topping:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- Frosting:
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp cream
- 1 tsp almond extract
- Slivered almonds

Preparation
Step 1
Mix crust ingredients like pie dough and pat onto a cookie sheet in two long strips.
In a large pot, heat the water and butter to boiling making sure all of the butter is melted. Remove from the stove and stir in flour and almond extract until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, stirring after each egg making sure mixture is smooth and the egg is completely incorporated. Spread this mixture evenly on the first layer and bake for 45 minutes at 375 degrees.
While the cakes are still warm, frost with the icing mixture. Sprinkle with slivered almonds. Serve the same day or freeze. It does not taste the same if just left at room temperature.
