Split Pea Soup

Gregg’s Easy Split Pea Soup. I usually buy a chunk of ham (about 1lb) and double the recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups chicken broth
- 2 Cups water
- 1 Cup dry split peas
- Meaty Ham bone
- Pinch of crushed dried marjoram
- 3 pinches of garlic powder
- 1 bay leaf
- ½ cup of chopped carrots
- ½ cup of chopped celery
- 1 medium chopped onion
- Salt and Pepper to taste

Preparation
Step 1
In a large saucepan combine broth, water, split peas, ham bone, marjoram, garlic, bay leaf and some black pepper. Bring to boil reduce heat, Cover, simmer for 1 hour stirring occasionally.
Remove ham bone, when cool enough to handle, cut meat from bone and chop in small pieces. Return meat to saucepan, stir in carrots, celery and onions cover and bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes until vegetables are tender. Remove bay leaf and enjoy.
I usually buy a chunk of ham (about a lb.)or go to dele to get an end of ham and double the receipt to make a good amount and freeze what is left over.
