SUGAR COOKIE CUTOUTS

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 sticks butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 TBSP cognac (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.
Bake 325 for 15-18 minutes. Large cookies
Put dough on a silpat shaped into a rectangle placing plastic wrap over the top and refrigerate.
Roll out dough keeping the plastic wrap on top. Cut shapes and place silpat on cookie sheet and bake.

ROYAL ICING
½ cup meringue powder
2 lbs confectioners’ sugar
1 cup water
Using a hand mixer, mix together meringue powder with 1 cup water. Add sugar and continue mixing until well combined.
