Pão de Queijo (Pan de Queso)

These traditional Brazilian cheese buns made from tapioca starch are a delicious comfort food snack similar to biscuits. Simple and easy to make!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup tapioca, manioc, or potato starch (225 grams)
- 1 egg
- 100 g Parmesan cheese, grated

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a big pan bring to a boil the water, milk, oil and salt. Remove the pan from the heat and add the tapioca starch. Mix well with a wooden spoon and let it cool down.
Put the mixture in a bowl, add the eggs and knead well. Add the grated cheese and keep kneading until the dough is smooth. Roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each. (Tip: grease your hands with oil if it's too sticky.)
Place the balls onto a greased baking tray. Bake the cheese buns for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Put the cheese rolls in a basket and serve them warm.
