- Fresh cracked Pepper
- Red pepper flakes or Peperoncino(to taste)

- 1 can of crushed tomatoes, 28 oz.
Preparation
Step 1
3.Or you can brown them all together and leave the grease in. Let the meat sit for a few minutes before serving to let the grease rise to the top, and skim it off. Or you can just eat the grease, it has lots of flavor. Old-school.(I did it this way for years).
Brown the beef and the pepper, onion and garlic in the olive oil. When browned add the tomato paste, Italian seasonings, sugar, salt, pepper, red pepper, and bay leaves. Let cook for a few minutes until the tomato paste is heated through.
Add the crushed tomatoes and a half of the tomato paste can full of water. Simmer for about 35 minutes.
Taste and re-season halfway through with salt, pepper and herbs if needed and again before serving.
Remove bay leaves before serving. Toss with your favorite pasta and serve with fresh shredded Parmesan, garlic bread, and a green salad.
