Ingredients
- BROWNIES:
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) margarine
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup buttermilk (or ½ cup milk with 1 tsp vinegar added)
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- FROSTING:
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 6 tbsp buttermilk
- 4 cups (1 lb) powdered sugar
- 1 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation
Step 1
Combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in large mixing bowl. Mix well. Heat margarine and water in saucepan until boiling. Pour over dry ingredients and mix. Beat in buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Pour thin batter in greased pan (15x10 in). Bake at 400 degrees over 20 minutes. Spread frosting on cake while hot.
