Combine softened butter and sugar. In a separate bowl, beat eggs. Add almond extract to beaten eggs. Pour into butter and sugar mixture. Add flour, and mix well until batter is smooth. Pour into a greased 8" pie plate or cake pan. Sprinkle slivered almond on top of cake mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 25–27 minutes.
