Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 scant cup shortening
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla or lemon flavoring

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Use a pastry blender to cut in the shortening. Then add eggs and flavoring.

Roll to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut cookies with a glass or cookie cutters. Bake at 350 F until lightly brown, about 12 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar or cool and frost.
