Butter Dips
This recipe is adapted from "Betty Crocker's New Good and Easy Cookbook."
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 1-1/2 cups Flour
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- 2/3 cup Milk

Step 1
Heat oven to 450 degrees. melt butter in 9"square pan in oven. Remove pan as soon as butter is melted. Stir dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Add milk, stirring slowly with fork until dough clings together (about 30 strokes). Turn out on well-floured board. Roll over to coat with flour. Knead lightly about 10 times.
Roll out 1/2" thick into an 8" square. With floured knife, cut dough in half lengthwise, then crosswise to make sticks.
Dip each stick in butter on both sides and lay close together in two rows in pan. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.
Serve hot.
Variations: You can add dried or fresh herbs to dough.
You can add grated cheese to dough.
You can sprinkle with garlic powder before baking.
You can sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese before baking.
