Whole Wheat Penne with Ham and Four Cheeses 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 1 16 oz bag Whole Wheat Penne Pasta
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 bag Frozen Peas, or 3 cups Broccoli Florettes
  • 3 cups Ham, cut to your desired size
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 3 cups Milk, Non-Fat
  • 2 cups Trader Joes 3 Cheese Blend
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, Grated
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh Grated Nutmeg, to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Pour penne into boiling salted water and cook until Al Dente, about 15 minutes.

In a sauce pan, melt butter until just turning golden brown, and add flour, stirring until well mixed and bubbly, you don't want a floury taste.

Add milk, one cup at a time, stirring well between each cup, until thoroughly mixed. Add pepper and nutmeg, to taste.

Mix in grated cheese blend and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese. Mix well. Add to cooked pasta. Stir in peas and ham.

Pour into a greased, 9x13 pan. Top with final cup of grated cheddar cheese.

Place in oven and bake until thoroughly heated, about 30 minutes.
