Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 (3 lb.) fresh picnic shoulder pork roast
  • Spicy Barbecue Rub (recipe below)
  • 1/4 cup beer
  • 8 sandwich rolls
  • Spicy Barbecue Rub
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup garlic salt
  • 1/2 cup paprika
  • 3 Tbsp. seasoned salt
  • 1 Tbsp. celery salt
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 3 Tbsp. black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. savory
  • Combine ingredients in bowl; mix well. Store in an airtight container.

Preparation

Step 1

Rub spicy barbecue rub liberally over entire surface of meat. Place meat in slow cooker; add beer. Cook on low for 8 hours.

Remove meat from cooker and let stand for 15 minutes; remove any fat and shred meat using 2 forks. Mound on a platter and pour over some of the juice from the cooker just to moisten.

Serve on rolls with your favorite barbecue sauce.
