1. Preheat oven to 300(.

2. Blend butter and sugar thoroughly.

3. Stir in vanilla

4. Gradually stir in the flour- the last of it will have to be kneaded in by hand.

5. Add enough flour so that the dough "cracks" easily in your hands, but not so much that it is dry and crumbly.

6. Roll with a rolling pin on a lightly floured board to ¼" thickness.

7. Cut with cookie cutters.

8. Bake on a parchment-lined sheet for 20 min.
