For best results, refrigerate all ingredients before mixing the dough.
Using a fork or pastry blender, thoroughly blend flour, shortening, sugar, and salt. Add water and blend just until all the dough is moistened. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface and place in 9" pie pan. If making a cream filling, prick crust with fork before browning. Bake at 325 degrees until lightly browned.
